Sketches-

I make them in notebooks, on scraps of paper or old envelopes - while sitting at a café ... relaxing after a walk... or anywhere while I'm on the go. And also as a preparation for more serious painting.

So often I think: 'mwah..not interesting'.  And I put my sketches away.

But when I find them again they always make me smile! And I am glad I didn't throw them out. Because I can feel the fun and free feeling I had while making them.

A sketch after all doesn't have to be perfect. It's a quick and playful impression - and while making it I really get to look more closely at what I am seeing - all the shapes, forms & colours; shades of dark and light and perspective.

In the end, they can be an inspiration for more 'serious' painting or drawing - or just be fun to look at. Because of their mood or quirkiness.

Here are some I luckily didn't throw out.

Red robin - in my garden
